Departmental Profile
The department of Chemistry started its journey with a course of B.Sc. (General) in the year 2001. The department began to offer Honours course in Chemistry from the academic session 2004-2005. Post graduate course in Chemistry was started from the academic session 2018-2019.

(iii) M.Sc. in Chemistry
Syllabi followed:
Belda College is affiliated to Vidyasagar University, Midnapore, West Bengal. The syllabi prescribed by this University are followed in the above courses.
Examination System:
Semester System is followed both in UG and PG Courses. Prior to the session 2017-2018 annual based system had been followed.
Infrastructural Facilities

The department has two laboratories for UG courses, both of which have facilities necessary for running practical classes of UG Honours and General Classes. In addition, there is anotherequipped laboratory for PG course.

High Speed Internet facility for both teachers and students of the department is available

More than 600 books (Text, Reference and Practical) on Chemistry are available in the Central Library of the College. Students and teachers also can avail of e-Book facility in the Library.

The department has its own library, which has quite a good collection of books on Chemistry. Studentsof the department have the facility to borrow books from the departmental library.

Thrust area of teaching and research: Organic, Inorganic and Physical Chemistry
Students Results: The performance of the students in the university examinations is satisfactory. Most of the final year students in an academic session get chance doing M.Sc. course in different Institutes or Universities. A few of students in each year pass JAM exam conducted by IIT.
